christoph jankowski

this site is run by me, christoph jankowski, a twenty-something graduate of social sciences, urban cultures, photography and media production with a strong interest in what culture and the arts contribute to life, work and play in the city.

this site is primarily for shameless self-promotion but has also served as an information platform for my master's degree projects, photographic work as well a virtual node to connect people, places and passions. some interesting remnants of this can still be seen here.

aside from my academic work and other cerebral activity i also engage in practical outlets that have recently taken the shape of coordinating exhibitions, promoting events and artists, and doing some casual work for an ad agency. i also teach english, german, french and dutch.

i am finishing my case study on Marseille in southern france for a research project on five european port cities - Genoa, Naples, Liverpool, Newcastle and Marseille

april 2007
having spent a month in marseille, interviewing people from across the cultural and arts board, it is now time to put all this research to paper. marseille is putting in a strong bid to become European Cultural Capital in 2013 and is also seeing a lot of investment, building and development - let's hope the city cultural actors keep up with the times.

i've moved to london and now live in islington, an exciting and busy part of london just around the corner of king's cross st pancras, one of the largest construction sites in europe. aside from teaching languages part-time I am busily looking around for potential employers, editing the final version of my master's thesis and exploring london's cultural landscape.
